Brief Description of Duties/Responsibilities:
Southern Connecticut State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology to start Fall 2013.
The normal teaching load is 12 credits per semester. The successful candidate will teach entry-level Biology courses for majors along with a combination of the following: upper-level and graduate Biology courses, entry-level Biology courses for non-majors, and/or courses in the candidate's specialty.
Other duties and responsibilities to be shared with the department include: curriculum development, assessment of courses and programs, academic advising and mentoring, and service on departmental and university committees. Biology faculty members are also expected to maintain an active research program that is accessible to both undergraduate and Master's level students. The specific area of research is open but should complement existing strengths within the department.
Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in Biological Sciences
Preferred Qualifications: Evidence of successful external funding and recent publications are desired. Post-doctoral research experience and/or one year of teaching at the university level is desired.
