Position Announcement - University Assistant: Business Development
Position Justification - Under the direction of the Dean of the School of Business, the Business Development coordinator will serve as a liaison between the School of Business and the business community. The focus will be on identifying projects and opportunities at local business organizations that advance the goals of area organizations and meet the School's mission. The business development coordinator would actively participate in developing responses to project proposals by local business organizations and oversee the School's delivery of a final product.
Specific Duties -examples of duties (this is not an exhaustive list):
• Identifying new projects and following up on identified opportunities
• Establishing and maintaining working relationships with representatives of the business community and members of the School of Business
• Developing marketing materials under the direction of the Dean and in collaboration with the University's Office of Public Affairs
• Planning and preparing presentations
• Creating budgets, overseeing bookkeeping activity
• Preparing summary reports for the Dean
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications, Experience, Requirements and Preferred Characteristics
The ideal candidate will have experience in business and higher education settings, and will be able to bridge these two areas. They will have the following:
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Self-motivation and ability to work as a member of a team
• Good organizational and time management skills
• Ability to communicate and demonstrate a professional image/attitude
• Effective networking and negotiation skills
Additionally, preferred qualifications include consulting experience and college/university teaching experience.
Hours
The position allows for flexible hours with a maximum of 19 hours per week. The candidate will be provided with appropriate technology and a work station in the School of Business.
