Brief Description of Duties/Responsibilities:
The Communication Department at Southern Connecticut State University seeks a full-time, tenure track Assistant Professor to teach undergraduate courses in support of our university's Liberal Education Program and across our four major specializations: advertising and promotions, interpersonal and relational communication, organizational communication and video production. The successful candidate will demonstrate an active commitment to an experiential approach to teaching, a productive plan of research/creative activity, department and university service, an undergraduate liberal arts education at an intentionally diverse campus, academic advising, assessment/development of the Advertising & Promotions curriculum and ongoing participation in professional development. Required Qualifications - Earned Ph.D or M.F.A. in Advertising, Interpersonal Communication, Organizational Communication, or a closely related discipline. ABD's are encouraged to apply but must have completed degree by time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
An ideal candidate will have a history of professional experience, particularly in the areas of creative application, new media, social media and/or public relations; a record of college-level teaching experience with a strong commitment to teaching undergraduate students. Experience with undergraduate liberal education programs, technology instruction, and/or writing across the curriculum preferred. Familiarity with Mac OS and Adobe Creative Suite software is also preferred.
