Brief Description of Duties/Responsibilities:
The Educational Leadership and Policy Studies Department offers the Ed.D in Educational Leadership, a Professional Diploma of Advanced Graduate Study, and Connecticut administrator certification programs for both Superintendent of Schools and all school leadership positions other than the Superintendent. Faculty members are expected to teach courses in any of these programs. These include graduate courses in leadership and organizational development, curriculum, supervision, finance, law, school and/or district instructional improvement, policy, quantitative and/or qualitative methods, and dissertation advisement. Faculty are assigned a 12-credit hour load each semester.
Faculty members are expected to engage in scholarship/creative activity; student advisement; and departmental, school wide and university service.
Required Qualifications:
Applicants for the position must have:
1) An earned doctorate by time of appointment
2) Experience in working with schools and/or school districts;
3) Ability to effectively teach graduate courses in any or all of the Department's programs;
4) Experience in, or strong potential for, conducting scholarly research in areas related to educational leadership and policy.
Preferred Qualifications:
1) Leadership experience in urban/diverse communities
2) Evidence of scholarly production such as academic publications and/or presentations
3) Demonstrated use of technology to enhance learning.
