POSITION TITLE: Information Security Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY
The successful candidate must be able to work independently to analyze, design, program, test, and perform overall development of new and future information systems as required by the University, under the supervision of the Director of Enterprise Applications. The Information Data Specialist will supervise and maintain institutional data and computer programs associated with the generation of reports for the University and act as a project leader in the development phase where required.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Analyzes systems and designs and writes computer programs independently; documents requirements and specification and implements new and future systems.
2. Coordinates operations and programs for existing systems in various administrative areas.
3. Assists in systems programming work as designed by Director.
4. Develops and maintains software programs to manipulate large data stores and provide gap analysis and the mapping of legacy data.
5. Serves as expert in relevant products and supports existing and purchased systems.
6. Works closely with the university community to meet its reporting and data analysis needs.
7. Provides faculty, staff, and students with application level and technical support.
8. Coordinates, maintains, supports University interfaces, files, reports, and /or any other reporting mechanisms as needed. Assists with hardware and software configurations and installations as required.
9. Acquires and maintains a thorough knowledge of security and privacy regulations and guidelines for handling confidential and sensitive information.
10. Develops and maintains Banner account and data access privilege provisions in accordance to the rules and policies established by the Data Stewards Committee
11. Performs other duties and responsibilities related to those enumerated above which do not alter the basic level and responsibilities of the position.
QUALIFICATIONS
A bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, or a related area from a fully accredited University. Four or more years of professional experience in the development of authorization schemas, identity management, real-time system integration as well as security and audit principles. Experience in single-sign on methodologies, as well as designing, implementing and maintaining role-based security models is required. It is essential to demonstrate knowledge and expertise in security related industry best practices. Programming in .NET, Javascript, Java, Perl, XML, HTML, and SQL, PL/SQL and LINUX or desktop environment systems required. Demonstrated ability to manage large data sets as well as experience with an ERP system such as SunGard Banner or Oracle PeopleSoft and an ad hoc reporting tool such as Hyperion Interactive and Production Reporting is highly desirable.
The candidate should possess strong oral and written communication skills, should be able to provide examples of clear written documentation, and should understand and have a familiarity with working within formal software lifecycle and project management frameworks. A successful candidate will also demonstrate the desire and ability to learn new skills quickly and a commitment to excellence in a service-oriented environment. An equivalent combination of experience and credentials may also be considered.
