Brief Description of Duties/Responsibilities:
Full-time, tenure track. Starting date of Fall 2012. Normal teaching load is four courses per semester. Successful candidate will be expected to teach one or two courses per semester of multimedia journalism and journalism technology. The successful candidate will also teach one or two courses that analyze how the news media, including the Internet, provide news and information to the public with an emphasis on the First Amendment.
Required Qualifications:
Applicants must hold a master's degree or higher, along with 3+ years professional journalism hands-on experience in the development and management of online news websites, including podcasts, audio and video streaming. The position entails teaching undergraduate journalism students how to create and maintain an on-line news website that blends print and broadcast styles, and utilizes the latest video and other equipment along with their knowledge of the essential principles of journalism to prepare students for a career in journalism or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Teaching experience and demonstrated record of scholarship/creative activity.
