Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, Connecticut, invites applications for a full time, tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Work.  The position begins in August 2012.   The primary teaching responsibility is teaching social welfare policy, critical thinking skills and research.  However, the applicant must be capable of teaching generalist foundation level courses.

The teaching load at SCSU is four courses (12credits) per semester; Additional faculty responsibilities include student advising and committee assignments. Candidates must also demonstrate the capacity to produce peer-reviewed scholarship. Faculty Reassigned time is available for research and scholarship endeavors.

Required Qualifications: 
Applicants must possess an MSW and a PhD or (DSW) in Social Work or related field from an accredited college or university.  ABD's will be considered based on evidence of completion of doctorate by hire date.

Preferred Qualifications:
Two years teaching at a graduate level program in social work is desirable.   Experience in obtaining grant funding for research programs and/or community partnerships is highly desirable.
