Duties/Responsibilities:
Normal teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. Successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate physical chemistry lecture and lab courses each semester, General Chemistry; plus graduate advanced physical chemistry and electives on a rotating basis. Research in physical chemistry is expected on both undergraduate and graduate levels. All faculty are expected to advise undergraduate chemistry majors and participate in committee assignments.
Required Qualifications:
Earned Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry. Will consider applicants who are ABD. If ABD, candidate must have earned doctorate by time of appointment. Ability to engage in meaningful scholarship/creative activity, leading to presentations at professional meetings and publications in peer-reviewed journals in the discipline is expected.
Preferred Qualifications:
Research area is open but theoretical/computational chemistry is preferred. Demonstrated record of scholarship/creative activity is preferred.

Southern is a primarily undergraduate institution located in beautiful New Haven, Connecticut. Our department has 8 full time faculty members and we are ACS certified. We award both B.S. and M.S. degrees in our department and possess almost every modern instrument in our facility including a brand new 300 MHz NMR.
