Position
Southern Connecticut State University, located in New Haven, Connecticut, is accepting applications for full-time tenure track Assistant/Associate Professor to work in the Recreation and Leisure Studies Department beginning August 2012.

Responsibilities
Candidates will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in core areas of the recreation and leisure studies curriculum as well as specialization courses commensurate with applicant background and experience. Our department will entertain applicants with a broad cross-section of expertise.  Candidates with background in management/administration, youth development, or sports management are encouraged to apply. Additional responsibilities include student advisement; department, college, and university service; scholarship/creative activity; and professional activity.

Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must have an earned doctorate in an appropriate field of study.  Candidates who are ABD may be considered; however the doctorate must be completed by the time of required tenure review.
 
Preferred Qualifications

A minimum of one degree in the field of Recreation and Leisure Studies; previous work experience in the fields of recreation, parks, sports management, and/or youth development; evidence of prior effective teaching and a demonstrated record of scholarship and creative activity. Additionally, candidates must have the ability to teach core and specialization classes at both the undergraduate and graduate level; ability to engage in meaningful scholarship/creative activity; ability to integrate technology into classroom instruction; and to advise student field experiences.

Rank and Salary
Rank and salary will be commensurate with professional background, qualifications, and experience.  Salary will be competitive.
