Brief Description of Duties/Responsibilities: Teaching responsibilities will include overseeing the development of the linguistic concentration of a four-field, growing Anthropology Department founded in 2002. Courses to be taught include the introductory courses in both cultural anthropology and linguistic anthropology, as well as upper-level undergraduate courses in the candidate's specialization. Normal teaching load is four courses per semester. All faculty share student advising and departmental and university-wide committee assignments.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must hold a Ph.D. by appointment or by the end of first year of appointment, show evidence of their ability to teach introductory anthropology courses effectively, and have a record of meaningful scholarship.
Preferred Qualifications: Earned Ph.D. in anthropology; experience teaching anthropology, and demonstrated record of academic publication. Areas of specialization are open, although preference will be given to those that complement the existing department. Candidates with experience and/or strong interest in developing an international field school preferred, but not required.

Theatre Department

Brief Description of Duties/Responsibilities: The Chairperson carries a half-time load of two courses per semester. Primary teaching responsibilities include a two-part Theatre History sequence, Playwriting, and Forms of Drama. The Chairperson will advocate the department's interests within the University and externally. She or he will oversee the operational and planning interests of the department, including student advisement; coordinating class scheduling; the personnel process; curriculum development; budgeting; institutional assessment and university reporting.
Required Qualifications: Required qualifications for the position include a terminal degree; at least five years experience at the Assistant Professor level; publication and creative activity appropriate to rank; and campus leadership experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Preferred qualifications include experience as chairperson of a department or a major university committee; experience at the Associate Professor level or above; experience teaching diverse populations in an urban setting; extensive knowledge of non-western and non-traditional forms of theatre; knowledge of K-12 theatre curriculums; experience with co-curricular undergraduate theatre players' groups and the teaching of non-majors.
