Assistant/Associate Professor of Special Education & Reading

Brief Description of Duties/Responsibilities:  
Teach graduate level courses in Reading/Language Arts with emphasis on common formative assessments and the use of scientific, research-based interventions in reading and language arts. Normal load is 12 credits per semester. Advise graduate students in the program. Provide professional service to the Department, School of Education, and the University. Conduct and publish research and engage in scholarly activity in the areas of reading and/or related areas of study. Develop collaborative partnerships with university colleagues and local PK-12 schools around the issues of literacy and instruction.


Required Qualifications: 
Earned doctorate or ABD in reading or a closely related field. If ABD, candidate must have earned doctorate by time of appointment. Minimum of three years PK-12 Reading Language Arts teaching. Experience with teaching graduate level courses in diagnosis and remediation. Experience with the clinical supervision of reading teachers. Record of, or strong potential for, scholarly activity. Demonstrate technology literacy in the context of enhancing instruction for diverse, PK-12 learners.

Preferred Qualifications: 
Experience in middle and secondary school teaching reading. Experience with delivering instruction in inclusive classrooms.
