Brief Description of Duties/Responsibilities

The department of Special Education and Reading seeks a dynamic educator to teach classes directly related to the education of English language learners in Pre-K through 12 settings across all curricular areas.  The successful candidate will be responsible primarily for providing rigorous and theoretically grounded instruction for pre-service teachers to ensure effective schooling experiences for ELLs.  The candidate may be expected to also teach Literacy and/or TESOL courses.  Also, the candidate will be expected to provide productive service to the department and university.

Required Qualifications:

•    Earned doctorate in an area directly related to the education of language minority students such as: language and literacy education or educational linguistics
•    Significant coursework in language arts, ELL or literacy instruction
•    Strong familiarity with sheltered and content-based ELL instruction

Preferred Qualifications:
•    Experience teaching in higher education and/or public schools
•    Experience with integrating technology in classroom settings
•    Record of research or professional accomplishments
