Brief Description of Duties/Responsibilities:
The Department of Special Education and Reading seeks applicants for a tenure track position at the Assistant/Associate level in the Graduate Reading Program. Responsibilities include: Teaching a variety of graduate level courses in Reading/Language Arts; student advisement; department and university service, research and scholarship.
Required Qualifications:
1. Earned doctorate or ABD in reading or closely related field. If ABD, candidate must have earned doctorate by end of first year of appointment.
2. A minimum of three years fulltime PK-12 classroom teaching experience including reading/language arts
3. Expertise in literacy coaching; expertise in literacy leadership; expertise in foundations of language and literacy; expertise in explicit instruction and assessment within the component view of literacy development.
4. Record of, or strong potential for, scholarly activity.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. University teaching experience
2. Experience in urban school districts
3. Current certification as Reading specialist or consultant
