Brief Description of Duties/Responsibilities:
The Department of Special Education and Reading seeks applicants for a tenure track position at the Assistant/Associate level. Successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate course in special education related to teaching students with emotional and behavioral (EBD) and/or autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Additional responsibilities include student advisement, department and university service, and scholarship.
Required Qualifications:
- An earned doctoral or be all but dissertation (ABD) in special education or closely related area. If ABD, candidate must have earned doctorate by the end of the first year appointment;
- A minimum of three years of full-time relevant teaching or related service provider experience in PK-12 schools;
- Expertise in assessment and evidence-based interventions for either, or both student population (emotional and behavioral disorders and/or autism spectrum disorders);
- Evidence of ability to teach university level courses related to education students with emotional and behavioral disorders and/or autism spectrum disorders and introductory special education; and
- A strong potential for scholarly activity.
Preferred Qualifications:
- University level teaching experience
- Experience in urban school districts
- Current teaching certification in Special Education with EBD focus and/or related autism spectrum disorder credential (e.g. Board Certified Behavioral Analyst)
