TITLE: University Assistant - LD Educational Specialist DEPARTMENT: Disability Resource Center
(19 hours per week -fall and spring semesters)
Job Responsibilities: Provide educational assessments to college students with specific learning or attention difficulties; As part of the assessment process, make recommendations for remedial strategies and appropriate programs and accommodations; Provide group testing for students with difficulties with foreign language
Qualifications: A minimum of a Master's degree in learning disabilities or any of the following areas: special education, education, psychology, educational psychology or rehabilitation counseling (including a minimum of 15 semester units of upper division or graduate study in the area of learning disabilities); Completion and documentation of appropriate training for the administration of the Woodcock-Johnson III -- NU Complete and other assessment tools; Experience providing assessments to high school aged students and or adults with learning disabilities and attention disorders; Demonstrated ability to establish effective interpersonal relationships with students and staff; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Demonstrated ability to function independently and interdependently with an interdisciplinary team; Ability to be self-directed, autonomous and able to adapt to fast-paced, challenging situations

TITLE: University Assistant DEPARTMENT: Academic Computing
SUPERVISOR'S TITLE: Assistant Director of Academic Computing, Windows Desktop Support
POSITION SUMMARY: The candidate will assist with performing hardware and software desktop support functions on campus and assist in the day to day management of the department Responsibilities will include supervision and provide tech support for the student worker staff. Assist with development and maintaining of master universal software images and support materials related to imaging of PCs.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform hardware and software desktop support functions in office areas at all locations on campus. Assist in the day to day management of the department and be responsible for the department in the absence of the Assistant Director. Provide advance level technical support to full time and part time staff in IT.
Supervise staff of part time student workers and University Assistants. Assist with development and maintaining of master universal software images in Windows XP and Vista. This person will also assist with the updating and maintenance of support materials related to imaging of PCs. (ie: network boot disks and USB keys) Write, edit and maintain software documentation for the end user community and the department. Assist with project management of small and large scale computer deployments.
Work on other IT initiatives or projects as assigned by direct supervisor or other members of IT management or full time IT staff
QUALIFICATIONS: A thorough knowledge of personal computer based hardware/software is required including Microsoft Windows operating systems and other Microsoft products, Internet Technologies, Wired and Wireless networking technologies. Medium to Advanced experience in computer and printer maintenance and repair is required. Some experience in MacOS and supporting technologies is also preferred but, not a requirement. Good oral and written communication skills are required. Candidates must have a Bachelors Degree or equivalent education in Information Technology or technology field and at least 2 to 3yrs professional experience in the field. Candidates with professional IT certifications preferred but not required.
This is a part time, no benefits, 19 hour per week position, pending funding. Candidates must be able to work a flexible schedule that includes shifts starting at 7:30am, M-F.

TITLE: University Assistants (multiple vacancies) DEPARTMENT: Campus Police
Responsible for monitoring assigned parking lot. Check all incoming vehicles for valid parking passes. Direct individuals to other parking lots when lots are full or when parking passes are invalid. Maintain traffic control. Identify motorists that need assistance. Maintain reserved parking for special events. Advise police department of any emergency and suspicious activity in the area. Report complaints and crimes to the police department and provide sense of security to anyone using facility. Communication via radio will be required and familiarity with campus and directions for campus. Individual must have good communication and verbal skill when dealing with staff, faculty, students and visitors.
Position does not exceed 19 hours per week. Hourly wage is $8 per hour.
