Brief Description of Duties/Responsibilities:
Normal teaching load is 12 credits/three-four courses per semester. Successful candidate will be expected to teach graduate, upper- and lower-level courses most semesters. All faculty share student advising and committee assignments.
Required Qualifications:
Applicants must be at least ABD. If ABD, candidate must have earned doctorate by time of appointment.
Evidence of ability to teach university-level French effectively. Ability to coordinate and oversee language sections highly desirable. Ability to engage in meaningful scholarship/creative activity, leading to presentations at professional meetings and publications in peer-reviewed journals in the discipline.
Preferred Qualifications:
Earned Ph.D. highly desirable. Equivalent of two years experience teaching university-level French; interactive pedagogical methodology and familiarity with ACTFL assessment desirable. Ability to lead and instruct graduate and undergraduate students on SCSU Summer Program in Paris desirable. Scholarship/creative activity in progress.
