Readings (Fall 2008)

  • Hanna Tinti and Jason Labbe read at 7:30 p.m. in EN D253 on October 1st. Tinti is author of the short story collection "Animal Crackers"and the new novel "The Good Thief." Labbe is a Southern English B.A. graduate and graduate of the University of Virginia MFA Program. He has numerous publications and is this year's poetry contest judge.
  • Teresa Stores and Richard Deming read at 8:00 p.m. in EN D253 on November 13th. Stores is the author of three novels, the most recent entitled "Backslide." She has published widely in periodicals such as "Harrington Lesbian Literary Quarterly" and "Out Magazine." She teaches at the University of Hartford. Deming is a poet and theorist whose recent poetry collection is entitled "Let's Not Call it Consequence." He is currently a lecturer at Yale University.

 

  • Award News: Our colleague Nicole Henderson has received the CSU Board of Trustees Teaching Award, while the 2008 J. Philip Smith Outstanding Teaching Awards both went to English Department faculty: Cynthia Stretch for full-time faculty and Lois Lake Church for part-time faculty.  Read an article about Nicole's connection between rock climbing and composition.  Congratulations to all three!
  • We are pleased to welcome Anjanette Darrington as a secondary education specialist, Judy Tarbox as a professional writing specialist, and Steven Corbett as a composition specialist.  Each will begin teaching in the fall of 2008.
