American Sociological association section on Race, Gender and Class Outstanding Graduate Student Paper Award
The American Sociological Association Race, Gender and Class Section invites nominations for the 2009 Outstanding Graduate Student Paper Award for the best paper in the field of Race, Gender and Class written by a graduate student. Eligible papers must be unpublished, sole-authored and have been written while the author was enrolled as a graduate student. Papers will be accepted from authors who hold their terminal MA or PhD degree if the degree was awarded no earlier than 12/08. Eligible papers must be no more than 25 pages in length and the references must follow the ASA Style Guide reference format. Authors may submit their own work with a cover letter; nominations also are welcome and should include both the letter of nomination and a copy of the paper. The ASA Community and Urban Sociology Student Paper Award
The CUSS Student Paper Award invites submissions for the 2009 best student paper in community and urban sociology. The competition is open to both published and unpublished article-length papers written by a graduate student in the last two years (2007 or 2008). The committee will accept sole-authored and multiple-authored papers, but no student-faculty collaborations.
All submissions must be received by January 31, 2009. The committee strongly prefers electronic submissions, which should be sent to Pamela Davidson, pdavidso@gwu.edu. The national association for ethnic studies (NAES) Phillip G. Davies Graduate Student Paper Award
An annual competition, this award was named for the late Phillips G. Davies in 1999 to commemorate the long-term contributions of Dr. Davies to the interdisciplinary field of Ethnic Studies as well as to the National Association for Ethnic Studies. The award carries a stipend of two hundred dollars and is presented at the annual meeting to the best graduate student paper on ethnic studies being presented at the conference and submitted for the competition. Award-winning papers are automatically considered for publication in Ethnic Studies Review, the NAES journal. Papers are judged on the basis of originality, content, and creativity. NAES reserves the right not to make any awards in a any given year, if no papers meet the expectations for quality. Please note - only participants delivering papers at the annual conference are eligible for the award. All entries must be submitted by February 15, 2009. SCSU Alumni/Foundation Scholarship Program
From October 1, 2008 to December 31, 2008 the SCSU Alumni/Foundation Scholarship Program application will be available for full or part undergraduate or graduate students for the 2009-2010 academic year.
To be eligible for an SCSU Alumni/Foundation Scholarship:

2 or higher GPA
-
12 undergraduate or 9 graduate credits earned at SCSUby the close of the fall 2008 semester.
If student(s) are graduating in May 2009, they are not eligible to apply. For those student(s) graduating in May 2009 and are planning to take graduate classes in the fall 2009, they must have 9 competed SCSU graduate credits by the end of the fall 2009 semester.
