Creative Arts Showcase
"This I Believe: Performing Arts as a Salute to Excellence"
Southern alumni, faculty, students, and staff present an evening celebrating the creative talents of the SCSU community. Spoken word, a cappella, jazz, poetry, and other performances will celebrate the inauguration of Mary A. Papazian, Ph.D., as SCSU's 11th president.
Performers will include:
- Lytasha Blackwell (SCSU B.A. '10, M.A. '12), spoken word
- Brian Johnson (Professor of English), poetry reading
- Sarah Rizzuto (SCSU B.A. '08, M.A. '10, M.F.A. '11), poetry reading
- CT National Poetry Slam Team (including Hawk T. Poet, Lenise Nunuu Smith,and Tarishi 'Midnight' Shuler) -- a team organized and coached by SCSU alum Croilot Adames)
In addition, musical selections will include:
- Gillian Rodriguez, flute, and Walter Stutzman, piano
