Different Shades of Blackness: Exploring the African Diaspora
The African Diaspora was the historic movement of Africans and their descendants to places throughout the world -- predominantly to the Americas, but also to Europe, the Middle East and other places around the globe. Join us as Dr. Shirley Jackson, professor of sociology, discusses the formation of the African Diaspora in the U.S., Cuba, and Brazil.
Take a journey through the African Diaspora with refreshing samples of fried chicken, jerk chicken, dirty rice, cornbread, callaloo, and a large glass of sweet tea.
Sponsored by the Department of Sociology and SCSU Multicultural Center.
