Graphic Narrative Panels
Graphic Narrative Panels at the 10th Annual SCSU Graduate English Conference:
"Subcultures, Semiotics, Sexualities, and Superheroes: Textual/Pictorial Methodologies in Graphic Narrative Media"
SCSU hosts a series of Graphic Narrative Panels at the 10th Annual Southern
Connecticut State University Graduate English Conference. These panels -- on the graphic novel, comics, and other forms of narrative/sequential art -- are
conceived as opportunities for people in the comics community --
readers, creators, and scholars -- to get together, discuss, and think
about the thing that they love. The panel's goal is to solicit
the involvement of a broad cross-section of participants. It is
not restricted to students and scholars. Three sessions, with about three to four
speakers in each session, will each last about 90 minutes.
Panelists will include:
- Howard Cruse, creator of the groundbreaking strip "Wendel"
- Tim Fish, creator of "Something Fishy This Way Comes"
- Shannon Wheeler, creator of "Too Much Coffee Man"
- Gabrielle Bell, creator of "Lucky"
- Abby Denson, creator of "Tough Love: High School Confidential"
Conference fee: $25 for attendees and guests ($10 for Southern students and faculty), due by Apr. 13; on-site registration fees will be $30 ($15 for Southern students and faculty).
