"My Gun's Bigger Than Yours: Images of Manhood and Violence in the Media"
Jackson Katz, one of America's leading anti-sexist male activists, will present a slideshow-lecture with images from popular culture. His style is interactive; the audience has the opportunity to participate in dialogue about the images he presents.
Subjects covered include professional wrestling, sports, Hollywood film, advertising, and music videos. An educator, author, and filmmaker, Katz is internationally recognized for his groundbreaking work in the field of gender violence prevention education with men and boys, particularly in the sports culture and the military.
Co-sponsored by the Women's Center, the Media Studies Department, the Women's Studies Program, and Student Government Association.
