Administrative Faculty Senate

Who We are

The Administrative Faculty Senate (AFS) is a legislative body representing the Administrative Faculty at Southern Connecticut State University.  The major function is to provide voice regarding the governance and policy-making decisions of the university.  The AFS serves in an advisory capacity to the President of Southern Connecticut State University, and may offer advice in all matters affecting the quality and mission of the university. 

These members shall be responsible for proposing changes in the policies and procedures of the University.  The membership of the senate consists of any Management/Confidential employees that are not current members of the President’s Leadership Team as well as all SUOAF members.  There are a total of 22 senators representing all areas of the university administration.



 

Powers and Responsibilities

Within the limits imposed by the Board of Trustees for the State Universities, institutional policies of the University are a concern of the Administrative Faculty Senate of the University.

The Administrative Faculty Senate serves in an advisory capacity to the President of the University and may offer advice in all matters affecting the quality and the mission of the University.

The Administrative Faculty Senate is the sole legislative body representing the Administrative Faculty. Therefore, all Administrative Faculty Senate committees shall report directly to the Administrative Faculty Senate. Any operational questions arising out of the work of a committee shall be decided by the Administrative Faculty Senate.

Meetings

Senate meetings are typically held 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of every month, with a few exceptions, throughout the academic year. Meetings are held in Buley Library, room 449.
