This month's new programs include:
• Tools and Techniques for Improving Course Accessibility: Research suggests that at-risk learners often benefit from reading-as well as listening
to-lectures and presentations. The technology already exists: There are a variety
of options available and differing strategies for using the various tools. Now if
someone would just help you figure out which approach would be best for your courses
and students. Presenter: Keith Bain is the lead of the international Liberated Learning Consortium and Adjunct
Professor in the Department of Finance, Management Science, and Information Systems
at the Sobey School of Business, St. Mary's University, Canada.
• Ten Ways to Improve Blended Course Design: Blended Course Design combines online learning and face to face instruction for a
synergistic combination that can help you reduce costs while improving the quality
of learning. Learn how to incorporate it in your college courses by in this seminar.
Presenter: Ivan A. Shibley, Jr. (Ike) is associate professor of chemistry at Penn State Berks,
a small four-year college within the Penn State system.
• Five Ways to Build e-Learner Confidence with Low-Stakes Grading: Frequent low-stakes grading is a strategy that incorporates many small, low-pressure
assignments keeps students thinking about course materials and alerts instructors
to comprehension problems before the high-stakes term papers and exams roll around.
Frequent low-stakes grading is a beneficial approach in all of higher education, but
it is particularly powerful in the online environment because it keeps students focused,
on track, and provides regular feedback. Presenter: Scott Warnock is an Associate Professor of English and Director of the Writing Center
and Writing Across the Curriculum at Drexel University.
• Conventional Wisdom is Wrong! Five Ways to Improve DE Quality Current assumptions about distance education are
based on studies more than a decade old. Learn to separate fact from fiction and evaluate
your school's data to make decisions regarding improvements to online courses. Now
is the time to change where you focus your efforts related to improving the quality
of online courses and programs. Presenter: Barry Dahl is an independent contractor and consultant with a focus on e-Learning
and educational technology.

Access your Magna account
1. Go to www.magnacommons.com
2. Click orange "Enter Authorization Code" button
3. Enter your email or username and your unique password and click "Login"
4. In the box, enter your group's Authorization Code. Contact the Faculty Development
Office for the code.
5. Select Activate to access Magna Commons
6. Use the "Click here" option to access Magna Commons. Access or search any of the featured programs.
Please note: entering the Authorization Code is done only once. Hereafter, you will access the subscription by logging in towww.magnapubs.com/account using your email address and password. Click on My Account from the top navigation bar, and under My Purchases click Subscriptions. Magna Commons will be listed to the right. Click View On-Demand Videos to access Magna Commons.
