Director of Diversity and Equity

Position Summary:  Create and manage complex programs contributing effectively to the mission of the University with particular attention to matters and policies of equity, diversity and equality of opportunity for faculty, staff and students. Oversee the University's compliance with affirmative action and equal opportunity regulations.

Essential Duties:  Direct all university efforts related to diversity and equity (including managing the staff of the Office of Diversity and Equity); investigate and resolve campus complaints of discrimination and harassment; Assist University's response to external complaints and investigations, prepare and submit the University's annual Affirmative Action Plan and other statistical reports required by outside agencies; monitor and advise hiring managers on recruitment and hiring processes; compile necessary data related to the hiring process; serve as the University's ADA and Title IX coordinator; organize and conduct training in diversity, affirmative action, sexual harassment.

Qualifications Required:  Understanding of applicable AA/EEO laws and regulations, relevant federal and state agencies, and the investigation and processing of human rights complaints. Ability to function effectively in a complex organization characterized by a philosophy of shared governance as reflected in numerous University collective bargaining agreements, demonstrated ability to manage program funds, and conduct statistical analyses.  Bachelor's Degree required and seven years of professional work experience in Diversity or Employment related program development, implementation and assessment. Preference will be given to individuals possessing at least three years experience in higher education management or a closely related field and to those with a law degree or advanced degree in human resource management, public administration, organizational behavior or a related field.
