Southern seeks an innovative and dynamic individual to serve as Associate Vice President for Strategic Initiatives and Outreach. Reporting to the Provost/VP of Academic Affairs, and working in collaboration with the school deans, this individual will guide the development and implementation of strategic initiatives related to new and ongoing non-curricular initiatives, outreach, and external partnerships with industry, government and community entities. This individual will develop and oversee major on-campus academic events including symposia, conferences, and workshops. This role supervises the Directors of Institutional Research and Assessment, provides joint oversight of external contracts, patent, and intellectual property and will assist in the development and nurturing of select University Centers and Institutes. The Associate Vice President for Strategic Initiatives and Outreach is a member of the Provost's Council and serves as the Provost's designee in the absence of both the Provost and the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Qualifications: Earned doctorate or terminal degree from an accredited institution. Minimum of five years of relevant experience in an institution of higher learning, preferably at a state institution. Demonstrated ability to create and nurture external partnerships between academia and community, corporate and/or government organizations. Experience with fund raising through donations, contracts and/or grants. Record of detail-oriented, collaborative and decisive leadership skills. Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills are required.
