The Department of Social Work has both MSW and BSW programs, with enrollment of approximately 220 graduate and 160 undergraduate students, and a DSW program, with an anticipated start date of July 2018. The department’s mission is to provide quality social work education to undergraduate and graduate students and to advance knowledge through study, practice, and research. The BSW program prepares students for entry-level professional social work positions and for advancement to graduate social work education. The MSW program prepares graduates for specialized clinical social work practice and for leadership in the social work profession. The DSW is a professional doctorate that will prepare social workers for advanced clinical practice, university teaching, and management. In October 2013, the Social Work Department was reaccredited through the Council of Social Work Education for the next eight years.
Brief Description of Duties/Responsibilities: The Department of Social Work invites applications for a full time, tenure track position to begin August 2018. Primary responsibilities will be teaching across the undergraduate and graduate programs; active engagement in scholarly activity; department and university service; professional activity; community engagement; and student advisement.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must possess an MSW from a CSWE accredited program and a doctoral degree by August 2018. Candidates must demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching and the capacity to produce peer-reviewed scholarship.
Preferred Qualifications: Preference given to candidates with two or more years teaching social work at the undergraduate and/or graduate level. The successful candidate will demonstrate effectiveness in working with diverse populations; have a demonstrated record of scholarship/creative activity; and have community and/or policy practice experience.
