Southern Connecticut State University invites applications for a full time, 12-month tenure track position in the Department of Nursing to begin August 2014, with an earlier start date possible. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and coordinating the new 2 + 2 Respiratory Care Program, supervising the Clinical Coordinator and teaching undergraduates in the area of respiratory care, and participating as a faculty member in the Department of Nursing.

The mission of the Respiratory Care Program will be to provide advanced education in the field of Respiratory Care to students who already possess an Associate's Degree and certification in the field of Respiratory Care. This program was recently approved for development by the Connecticut Board of Regents for Higher Education.

The teaching load at SCSU is 12 credits per semester, which includes reassigned time for administrative duties related to the operation of the program. Additional faculty responsibilities include student advising and committee assignments. Candidates must also demonstrate the capacity to produce peer-reviewed scholarship. Faculty reassigned time may be available for research and scholarship endeavors.

Required Qualifications:

Earned doctorate or substantial progress towards the doctorate. Candidate must complete doctorate within two years of employment. Applicants must possess registration by the National Board for Respiratory Care and be eligible for Connecticut licensure as a respiratory care practitioner. Rank will be determined by teaching and research experience in a respiratory care or similar program as well as the nature of the applicant's experience in the preferred qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience in an administrative role and/or experience in program development in a respiratory care or similar program is preferred. Certification in an area of advanced practice is desirable.
