The School of Business has had increasing enrollments, significant external fundraising success and now occupies a new LEED certified building since August 2012.  The School of Business recently adopted the tag line “Change for Good,” and a focus on sustainability, the triple bottom line, student professional development and business community engagement is woven throughout its programs.  The department of accounting offers a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Accounting for individuals interested in pursuing a career in accounting who currently hold an undergraduate degree outside of accounting.

Brief Description of Duties/Responsibilities: 

The department of accounting currently has a full-time, tenure-track vacancy for a person who can meet one or both of the following needs:

Financial Accounting Position:  Ability to teach Financial Accounting at both the introductory and advanced levels including Intermediate I and II, Advanced Accounting and Accounting Capstone. 

Managerial Accounting Position:  Ability to teach Managerial Accounting at the introductory level and to develop a new Managerial Accounting Course at the advanced level.

Successful candidates should also be able to perform scholarly activities, productive service, student advisement and engagement with the business community (required for both positions).

Required Qualifications: 

Applicants for the position must demonstrate evidence of ability to teach at the university level effectively.  Applicants must also establish their ability to be classified as “qualified faculty” according to AACSB standards.  This requires both initial qualification and maintenance of qualifications.  

Initial Qualification:  applicants must meet one of the following:

1) Initial academic qualification - an earned doctorate in accounting or business; OR

2) Initial practical qualification - accounting experience at an extremely high level within the past 5 years (e.g., a background as a “Big-Four” partner) and a graduate degree. 

Maintenance of Qualifications:  successful applicants must also establish a proven track record of one of the following as a means to maintain currency of initial qualifications:

1) Meaningful scholarship leading to presentations at professional meetings and publications in peer-reviewed journals; OR

2) Consulting activities with sufficient relevance to maintain qualification.
