Information Security Officer
Southern Connecticut State University is seeking an Information Security Officer (ISO) at an Administrator VI level.
Minimum qualifications include:
A Bachelor's degree in computer related field, Master's degree preferred.Formal certification in security practices such as CISSP or GIAC is desirable. Skills and abilities noted are normally acquired through a combination of experience and training which includes formal university education, several years experience in a higher education environment and extensive experience with data and computer security administration using advanced computer technology.
Position responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Understand and apply state of the art security technologies in computer and telecommunications to the needs of the University.Develop policies and strategic plans, provide effective leadership, management and guidance on security related matters.Implement and manage the CSU Information Security Standards at the University.Grow the university-wide information security program, further develop security architecture guidelines and advance information security education for the institution.Manage the university's response to security threats and incidents and serve as the point of contact for internal and external communications related to information security.Lead efforts to monitor, assess, and report on risks and controls related to the university's information assets.Work with the CIO and university administration to create and administer an information security education program for the entire university community. Serve as the University authority on emerging technologies related to information security.
The preferred candidate should possess strong oral and written communication skills, should be able to provide examples of clear written documentation, and should understand and have a familiarity with working within formal service management and project management frameworks. A successful candidate will also demonstrate the desire and ability to learn new skills quickly and a commitment to excellence in a service-oriented environment. An equivalent combination of experience and credentials may also be considered.
