SCSU Research Symposium

Purpose:

Symposium on the Status of Research at Southern

Report:

Following the symposium on April 26, 2003, the committee issued a report on the status of research at SCSU.

Purpose of the symposium

Research at Southern has received increasing emphasis in hiring considerations, promotion and tenure decisions, and institutional advancement. A major goal of the University's Strategic Plan is to increase support for, and achievements of, faculty and students in scholarship, research, creativity, and community engagement.

The Research and Scholarship Advisory Committee (RSAC) and the Office of the Vice President of Academic Affairs sponsored a Symposium on the Status of Research at Southern, held Saturday April 26, 2003, 9 am - 12 noon, in the Special Dining Room of Connecticut Hall.

Participants:

Twenty-one departments were represented at the symposium. Vice President Smith opened the session and Deans Holley and Fredeen were present for the entire symposium.
