Transfer Students

The following is important information pertaining to transfer students who are interested in applying for financial assistance at Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU):

  • Students must add SCSU code (001406) on the FAFSA.

  • Your financial aid is not transferable from your previous institution.

  • Students are not allowed to borrow over their Stafford loan limits per academic year (Fall/Spring).

For example - If the grade level at your school was sophomore and when you transfer to SCSU, the grade level is a freshman.  The maximum loan amount for freshman is $5500.  The student already borrowed $1750 at the other school which means that the student can only borrow the balance (5500-1750 = 3750) which is $3750.

  • Students who submitted verification documents at another school may have to go through the verification process at SCSU.

  • Students who completed the Stafford or the Perkins Entrance Counseling at the other school will, again, have to complete it at SCSU
