PAST PROGRAMS

 

4/23/08 - WALK @ WORK DAY Thank you to all who participated in this walking event. Over 40 students, faculty, and staff members joined us in a 2 mile walk around campus which concluded with a stretch and healthy snack.

4/15/08 - HEALTH AND WELLNESS FAIR This event was sponsored by the Wellness Center and Health Services which included informational tables from various campus departments and other outside vendors. Topics included ways to reduce stress, eat healthier, and exercise.

3/26/08 - HEALTHY HEART LUNCHEON This was a co-sponsored event put on by the Fitness Center, Wellness Center, Human Resources, and Health Services. Three panelists, including an APRN, Dietician, and Health & Fitness Instructor, provided heart healthy information to nearly 50 participants. Thank you to all who attended!

3/9/08 - 3/12/08 - LAST CHANCE WORKOUTS During the week before Spring Break, we offed 4 classes that were free to members and non-members which included cardio kickbox, cycling, step aerobics, and Interval Strength.

2/6/08 WEAR RED DAY Thank you to the over 160 people who participated in wear red day 2008...together we raised over $800 for the American Heart Association to conduct research to cure heart disease and save lives.  For more information about how to improve your heart health, visit www.americanheart.org

2/13/08 NEW YEAR, NEW YOU!  Over 100 students came to find out how to adjust your life to become the best you yet!  

12/10/07 JUMP START YOUR NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION:

A free lunch & learn provided by the SCSU Fitness Center & Dietician from Health Services.  We shared how you can survive the holidays and all year long by setting realistic exercise goals and improving eating habits.  Free Pedometers & Exercise contracts to help attendees stick to their plan!

11/12/07 DIABETES AWARENESS DAY

Together with Health Services we provided information on preventing and treating diabetes.  Free pedometers & waist circumference measurements to assess risk were just a few of the highlights of the event!

10/17/07  SNEAKER SCREENING

Woodbridge Running Co. Staff help you to choose the right sneaker for your favorite activity.  Over pronate? Heel spurs? Wide feet? Find out the best fit for you- take good care of your feet! 

10/8-11/4/07 WALK! For the health of it:

WALK! is a 4 week self-directed walking program- designed to help you become more active by tracking steps walked, miles walked or by dedicating time for other physical activities. Group walks and weekly emails help to keep you on track.  Prizes awarded for completing the program!
