M.S. DEGREE AND CROSS-ENDORSEMENTS

Southern Connecticut State University's TESOL & Bilingual Education Program, housed in the Department of Foreign Languages, offers a Master of Science Degree in Bilingual, Multicultural Education & TESOL. This program prepares individuals to teach English as a Second or Foreign Language. Graduates of the program teach ESL/EFL in adult education, community colleges, overseas, and in private schools. A full description of the course requirements and admission procedures can be found in SCSU's graduate catalog.

For those interested in teaching ESL or bilingual education in the public schools, grades K-12, the program also offers the coursework required for a cross-endorsement in ESL and a cross-endorsement in bilingual education. The cross-endorsement is an additional certification endorsement for individuals already certified to teach in the Connecticut state school system.  A full description of the courses required by the CT State Department of Education for a cross endorsements in either ESL or bilingual education is here.
