Graduate Council - Procedures Committee

The Procedures Committee is charged with the responsibility to "make recommendations to the Council for equitable membership among the voting units according to parameters established by the Council; recommend criteria and changes for the qualifications, application and appointment of Graduate Faculty; review applications and make recommendations for new members of the Graduate Faculty to the Graduate Council; make recommendations to the Council on all matters pertaining to the Rules of Order of the Council or, if appropriate, any standing rules the Council or a committee of the Council may seek to adopt that will affect the organization and business of the Council; make recommendations to the Council pertaining to formal interaction with other university committees, organizations and units; present a slate of nominees and conduct both the annual election of officers and any specical elections in the event of a vacancy in office; advise the Council on all matters pertaining to elections, recall and referendum matters, coordinating with the Faculty Senate in any referendum that is required; notify, through its chairperson, each voting unit of counselor vacancies or changes for the following academic year as specified in the Policies and Procedures Manual of the Procedures Committee.  

Meetings of the Procedures Committee are usually held before the Graduate Council meetings at 12:00 p.m.

The Procedures Committee processes each New Graduate Faculty Membership Form  on a monthly basis during the academic calendar year. Completed membership forms should be forwarded to the Office of the School of Graduate Studies for copying and distribution to the committee. Those forms submitted up to two weeks prior to the next scheduled meeting of the Graduate Council will be processed at that meeting (time permitting).
