Mon., Mar 17
Sophomore Kristen Frost (Madison, Conn.) of the Southern Connecticut State University women's swimming and diving team won her fourth national championship in as many days on March 15, as she took the national title in the 1650-yard freestyle during the fourth and final day of competition at the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships at Mizzou Aquatics Center on the campus of University of Missouri. Including Frost, three Owls earned All-America accolades in the 1650-yard freestyle.
Frost finished the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 16:17.66, just over 25 seconds better than Truman State's Molly Polette, who finished second. Frost's time broke the NCAA Division II record by nearly 11 seconds. The national championship was the fourth of the week for Frost, who captured the 500-yard freestyle on March 14 and the 200-yard freestyle on March 13, and set a new NCAA Division II record while winning the 1,000-yard freestyle on March 12.
Sophomores Cody Hall (Parker, Colo.) and Emily Sundel (West Hartford, Conn.) also placed in the top eight in the 1650-yard freestyle to take home All-America accolades as they finished sixth and eighth, respectively. Hall finished with a time of 17:22.67 while Sundel posted a time of 17:25.64.
