University Forum XLI to focus on safety

gerald amadaUniversity Forum XLI: "Promoting Campus Safety" will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2008, from 8:30 a.m. - 4:15 p.m., in the Charles Garner Recital Hall, Engleman C112. 

This all-university event will begin with continental breakfast, followed by a keynote on "Lessons Learned from Virginia Tech" and a Community Conversation on "Promoting Safety at Southern."  Luncheon will be held in the Grand Ballroom of the Michael J. Adanti Student Center. The afternoon keynote for faculty on "Problematic Behaviors, Disruptive Students and Classroom Management" will be followed by a Community Conversation on "Promoting Civility in the Classroom."

Forum XLI will feature keynote speaker, Dr. Gerald Amada, internationally recognized expert on campus safety and classroom management.  Dr. Amada has published 10 books and more than 100 articles on mental health issues, psychotherapy, and disruptive student issues.  His books on college student issues are Coping with the Disruptive College Student: A Practical Model, Coping with Misconduct in the College Classroom: A Practical Model, and Mental Health and Student Conduct Issues on the College Campus: A Reader.
