 Doreen Kordorsky

Hi.  My name is Doreen Kordorsky and I am Southern Connecticut State University's Nutritionist.

In September 2009, I started my fourth year here at SCSU and I am as excited as ever to bring my knowledge, love of nutrition, and my many years of experience to you, the students of SCSU.

You may be wondering how would seeing a dietitian benefit me?  Well let me ask you a few questions:

  • Is your diet as healthy as it could be?
  • Would you like to lose or gain some weight?
  • Do you often feel tired, hungry or bloated?
  • Are you a vegetarian and want to make sure you are getting the nutrients you need?
  • Do you or a member or your family have high blood pressure, high cholesterol or high blood glucose?
  • Are you feeding your body for maximum athletic performance?
  • Do you overeat or deny yourself food for emotional reasons?
  • Could you use some help making better food choices at Conn Hall, Adanti Student Center food court or in the Residence Halls?

If your answer "yes" to any of these questions, then a visit or two with me can help you eat better and live a healthier life.

Do you want to set up an appointment?  Call Student Health Services at 392-6300 or my extension at 392-6309 or email me at kordorskyd1@southernct.edu .  An individual session ranges from 30-60 minutes and all visits are FREE OF CHARGE to full-time students.

I am also available for:

  • Group presentaitons in Residence Halls.  Attention CC's/CA's - pick a topic, provide a healthy snack and I will talk about it in the comfort of your Residence Hall lounge.
  • Group tours of Conn Hall to help you make healthier eating choices.
  • Group tours of local supermarkerts to help you become a smarter food shopper.
  • Group weight management classes at Conn Hall or in your Residence Hall.  Weight Wise (www.southernct.edu/wellness/weightwise) will start again in February 2010.  I am also working with the Fitness Center on a program for those who are serious about losing weight.  Stay tuned for more information.
  • Group presentations to athletic teams on topics of general nutrtion, sports nutrition, and nutritional supplements.  Highly recommended at the beginning of each teams' season.
  • Ask the dietitian online questions - link found on Student Health Serives website at www.southernct.edu/healthservices.

Thank you and I look foward to working with you!
