how to apply

 

Students wishing to apply to the Honors College as freshmen must complete and submit their SCSU application to the University by January 1, 2012. Check the box on the University application indicating that you are applying to the Honors College. Application information for the University is found at http://www.southernct.edu/admissions/applications/

The Honors College application, and prepared essay (click on highlighted 'application' and see item V on the Honors College application) must be received by the Honors College no later than January 17, 2012 for you to be considered for February 11, 2012 Honors College Admissions Day.

Who may qualify for admission to the Honors College?

  • High school seniors with outstanding academic ability and high SAT or ACT scores (minimum combined SAT verbal and math of 1050, or minimum ACT of 23);
  • Transfer students who want to apply to the Honors College should contact the Honors College Office at 203-392-5499 at least one month prior to beginning their studies at SCSU. Transfer students with outstanding records who have not yet met most of the all-university requrements may join the Honors College with permission of the director;
  • Candidates who show a commitment to community service and/or co-curricular activities (such as athletics and performing arts), and leadership qualities.
