A Message From Michelle:

"For me, Alumni Relations is about connections.  Every day we are connecting alumni back to the university, connecting alumni to alumni and alumni to students.  The bonds that are forged via our A to G Program (Admissions to Graduation) are the fundamentals of everything we do here. Whether we are writing postcards to admitted students, or having alumni meet with students about their professions,  mentoring or internships – when we are in the communities introducing alumni to each other through our networks, it’s all about connections.

I am privileged to work with an incredible team - Assistant Director of Alumni Relations, Doreen Cammarata-Gilhuly, ’89; Alumni Relations Secretary, Charlie Davison – our rock!, and our newest team member, Alumni Network Coordinator, Deborah Cedar Vincent, ’82.

My philosophy is that no man (in our case, woman) is an island, and these three women, along with the hard-working Alumni Association Board of Directors and volunteers, contribute their time, energy, creativity and generous spirit to everything we do for our alumni and students.

As a Creative Arts major at Bradford College (musical theatre and voice), it is natural that I look at all of our events and programs as productions.  What is most important, besides the overall look of an event, is the feeling alumni have when they are at an event or program and the connection we have made with them.  Continuing that connection is what keeps the Office of Alumni Relations moving forward.

When not at Southern Connecticut State University or representing Southern, I have spent the last 30 years performing in community theatre productions throughout Connecticut in roles such as Miss Hannigan in Annie and Ursula in The Little Mermaid – always the meanie!  In addition, I enjoy using my creative side by designing and building costumes for the productions.

I hope that in everything I do at Southern Connecticut State University, I am using my creativity to bring our alumni outstanding events with a warm and welcoming feeling, creating lifelong memories for them."
