I. Rotation Plan of Undergraduate ILS Courses

for the B.S. in Information Service Program

30 credits: ( 9 core, 21 electives) in IS program are required for the LIS Major
18 credits: (3 core, 15 electives) in LIS program are required for the LIS Minor

B.S. in LIS Required course for both Major and Minor:

II.  Rotation Plan for the Master of Library Science (MLS) and Master of Library Science with School Media Specialist Certification (MLS/SMS) Programs

•    The MLS degree program requires 36 credits, including 5 core courses (15 credits) and the rest 21 credits are for electives.

i.    The 21 credits of electives (in most cases 7 courses) can be chosen from the following professional career tracks: public libraries, academic libraries, special libraries, and information system and technology.

ii.    For a generalist in MLS program, the 7 elective courses can be chosen in any combination from ILS courses designed for all MLS professional tracks.

•    The MLS with School Media Specialist Certificate (MLS/SMS) program requires 36 credits for the MLS, which includes 5 core courses for the MLS, and 9 courses designed to meet the state regulations for school media specialist certification. Plus, an additional 0-18 credits in education related courses (including Student Teaching) may be required to meet the State of CT guidelines for initial teacher certification.
