Did you know:
Seventy-two percent (72%) of the 430 students enrolled in the ILS graduate programs in Fall 2007 are conducting their studies online. While approximately 66% of these students reside in Connecticut, students from more than 30 US states, 4 Canadian provinces, 1 US trust, and 3 non-North American countries are also represented in the program.
In user studies we found when visiting the Website, students want their information fast, quick and easy. The purpose of this site is to facilitate distance students' efficient and effective access to information they seek to support or enrich their academic experience at Southern.
Distance Students from other countries and other states, reaching to Alaska, have come to campus for graduation, short or summer session courses, and for short visits.
A bit of information to help you plan a trip to campus:
A public bus goes from the Southern's campus (near overpass) to downtown New Haven and The Green (Yale's main campus); from there it is a short walk to museums, galleries, libraries, restaurants, art centers.
The Amtrak station is a short cab ride to downtown New Haven or campus (The Green and Yale are about half way between Southern and the Amtrak station). Southern has limited shuttle runs to the Amtrak station for students and staff during the week during the semester. Boston, New York City, and Philadelphia can be day trips from New Haven via Amtrak or the local trains.
Students who would like to live on campus while attending a short or summer session can
make arrangements through Southern's Department of Residence Life
(1-203-292-5870 or -5869). The cost is approximately $150 for the week
(room only).
