ILS 539
Multimedia Interface Design
COURSE DESCRIPTION
An orientation course intended to give students both a theoretical understanding of, and practical experience with, designing multimedia products and the user interface in information systems. It introduces basic knowledge of human computer interaction (HCI) and various computerized, new media and Internet based multimedia system designs.
COURSE OBJECTIVES/STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES
Through lecture notes, readings, discussion and course assignments/projects, this course will provide a basic understanding of the concepts involved in multiple media interface design by introducing concepts, components and technologies of the discipline.
Upon successful completion of the course, it is expected that students will be able to:
- Describe general human-computer interaction design issues
- Define basic principles for designing the user interface in information systems, with special reference to computerized systems
- Describe basic hardware and software for multimedia product presentation
- Define popular usability evaluation methods: usability inspection methods, analytic techniques and experimental techniques
- Describe and practice the design and production of multimedia resources for libraries Identify and evaluate new multimedia
