Planned Program of
Study - effective immediately
An initial planned program will be submitted when the student is recommended to the School of Graduate Studies for admission to the program. No further revisions will be make until the last semester in which the student is to be enrolled prior to Graduation. In that term, after the last day to add/drop courses, a revised planned program will be submitted, if needed.
NOTE: ILS has already arranged with the Registrar's office that only required courses will be listed on the Planned Program for the MLS degree. Electives will be listed as "ILS elective." No specific course is to be listed; 500- and 600-level electives with the ILS designation may be taken to fulfill the "ILS elective."
Special Project -
effective December 1, 2012
The Dean of Graduate Studies will no longer be a signatory
on the certification pages for thesis and special project proposals and thesis
and special project submission. The signers will be the Thesis advisor, the 2nd
reader and the Department Chair. However, these certification pages still need
to be forwarded to the School of Graduate Studies, with all the required materials
as outlined in the Guidelines for Thesis and Dissertations. In the event that
the Department Chair is either the Thesis Advisor or the 2nd Reader, then the
Dean or Associate Dean of the School in which the program is housed, will serve
as the final reader and signatory. Once the Graduate School receives these forms they will continue to issue the letters of notification just as they do now.
The appropriate document is at the following website: http://www.southernct.edu/grad/uploads/textWidget/wysiwyg/documents/Thesis_and_Special_Project_Guidelines_Revised_Fall_2012.pdf

TUITION EQUALIZATION Pilot
Out-of-state and international students may want to plan to take advantage of a pilot pricing strategy that will allow about a fifty-percent savings on full-time tuition for Fall 2012-Spring 2013. The pilot pricing will charge all Master of Library Science (MLS) students the same in-state tuition rates regardless of residency. Student Access to online courses after the semester ends
Student access to old courses
January 24, 2011 12:36 PM
Recent interpretations of the Technology, Education and Copyright Harmonization Act of 2002, known as the TEACH Act, require the Teaching and Learning Technologies Group to limit access to copyrighted content within eLearning Vista. The day after grades are due in Banner, students will not have access to course materials. Making courses unavailable to students is a divisional setting within eLearning Vista and will be applied to all courses.
Should a student(s) continue to need to access course content after this time, the professor can override that setting for his/her section. Contact your course professor if you need access to a course after grades are due in Banner, contact our course professor.
This policy change will be effective immediately and begin with Fall 2010 courses.
