Admissions Policy
WHAT IS SOUTHERN'S POLICY REGARDING THE ADMISSION OF INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS?
International students go through a co-admission process to meet both academic and international student standards. They must demonstrate their proficiency in English. In addition, proof of the student's first-year expenses must be documented and presented to the International Student Services Office. The Admissions and International Student Services offices work closely with each other to select strong candidates.
WHEN should INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS SUBMIT THEIR APPLICATIONS AND DOCUMENTS?
If you are an international student, you must submit your application and all supporting documents by:
- June 15 for the fall semester
- November 15 for the spring semester
AFTER ACCEPTANCE, WHAT IS THE PROSPECTIVE STUDENT'S NEXT STEP?
Outside of the United States, a student secures a visa for entry into the United States by presenting to the U.S. Consul in the native country an I-20 Certificate for Eligibility for F-1 student status with financial statements and a valid passport. Within the United States, international students arrange for admission to another U.S. college or program by checking with both international student advisers and following the transfer procedure at each college.
