Owls Mail

Announcement - Sept. 30, 2010

If you have not signed up for the new student email system "OWLS," you must do so by Sunday, October 3, 2010. Starting October 4, you will no longer be able to access the MySCSU email system. If you have important email messages that are currently stored in your MySCSU mailbox, please back up the messages by October 3.  The best way to back up the messages is to forward the messages to your OWLS email account.   If you use a third-party email account, after you have signed up for OWLS, please follow the instructions at  http://help.outlook.com/en-us/140/ms.exch.ecp.learnredirectto.aspx?ref=search&sl=1 to set up auto-forwarding in OWLS.

To sign up for OWLS, please follow the direction at http://www.southernct.edu/oit/accountsandmail/owlsemail/.

what is owls mail?

As of April 1, 2010, Southern students have a whole new email system -- Owls Mail -- with an accompanying suite of helpful services.

If you are a Southern student, you must convert to Owls Mail, as it will be the university's official means of communicating with you. You should have activated your new account by May 15, 2010.  You will find that your Owls Mail ID gets you way more than a normal mail account. It gets you way more than email. It gets you way more than a lot of things! With your new ID, you can free up space on your hard drive, hold group meetings without leaving your couch, remember to call your mom, and discover many new ways to make your life easier.

IS owls mail optional?

No. The conversion to Owls Mail is mandatory for all students. Your Southern email account is the university's official means of communicating with you. If you don't activate your Owls Mail account, you will not receive important messages about course registration, billing, financial aid, housing, graduation, or other matters pertaining to your SCSU student status.
