Theatreworks USA - Jim West Productions "Dinosaurs"

dinosaurs show

dinosaurs showThis summer, groups of children from all around the city and state will come to Southern to see a FREE children's performance at Lyman Center.

This show is part of a generous donation from Southern alumna Katherine M. Barrett that has generated the creation of this wonderful arts outreach program.

The Katherine M. Barrett Children's Series - Access to Arts Enrichment presents Theatreworks USA  JIM WEST PRODUCTIONS "DINOSAURS."

This performance combines classical music, puppet construction and facts about dinosaurs into an engaging and funny performance for children age 4-12.

The show breaks down into four parts:

• Building a Tyrannosaurus Rex (music by
Mussorgsky: Pictures at an Exhibition; Baba-
Yaga).
• A shadow tale about the Overaptor (music by
Ravel, Grofe, Mussorgsky, Richard Strauss, and
Ibert).
• A story of a little Brachiosaurus (music by
Stravinsky, Prokofiev, and Mahler)
• The finale, with the construction of a huge
Apatosaurus (music by Mahler: Symphony No. 1
Second Movement).

In-between the sections, our host, Fossil, a small blue dinosaur puppet, interacts with Jim as he
searches for his identity and new dino facts.

The performance is one hour in length. To inquire about availability contact Vincent Ferrie at the Lyman Center at 203-392-6167 or ferriev1@southernct.edu to reserve tickets or for more information.
