GRADUATES

mft studentsHistorically, most MFT graduates have been hired in appropriate positions prior to graduation. They are to be found in most major agencies throughout Connecticut including Mid-State Hospital, Wheeler Clinic, Children's Psychiatric Emergency Services of Saint Raphael's Hospital, The Consultation Center, Clifford Beers Clinic, Yale University, Norwalk Hospital - Oncology Services, numerous family service agencies, youth service agencies, private practices, and other organizations where families receive treatment. A number of MFT graduates have also moved into administrative and director positions in these agencies. In addition, many graduates have gone on to complete doctoral studies.

State licensure regulations require a post-graduate practice year (1-2) in a non-profit agency under the supervision of a licensed marriage and family therapist, which includes 1,000 hours of clinical contact and 100 hours of supervision. At the completion of these requirements, the candidate may apply to sit for the state licensing examination. The state of Massachusetts allows graduates from an accredited MFT program to take the licensing examination prior to completing the 1000 hours of post-graduate clinical case work.
