mathematics placement process
Entering freshmen are placed into their first math course according to their SAT math score. If you believe you are prepared for a higher level math course than your SAT math score indicates, you may choose to take the Math Placement Exam. More detailed information on the placement exam are available at University's Placement Exams Mathematics Guide page.
Transfer students may not use their SAT scores for math placement.
Here are some frequently asked questions about math placement exams.
The chart that follows indicates the courses a student is eligible to take based on their SAT/ACT Math score and high school math background. Mathematics course descriptions are available at here.
