Southern's Multicultural Center serves as a resource for the university and the community in promoting an awareness and appreciation of cultural diversity. It offers educational programs and services to assist in the recruitment and retention of students. The Center also sponsors outreach programs with area schools, conducts art exhibitions, film programs, lectures, and conferences and houses a book and video library.
The Multicultural Center was established in 1991 to promote and implement multicultural programming. It is a positive force in the lives of African American, Asian American, Latino/Hispanic American and Native American Students.
